01 Bart America
PHOTOGRAPHY / Tijs Vervecken

Set within a landscape of greenery and water, this 1970s bungalow—originally defined by its generous living spaces and more compact service areas—has undergone a thorough and carefully considered transformation. The intervention sought not to overwrite the existing architecture, but rather to distill it: to strip away later additions and visual noise in order to rediscover the clarity and quiet strength of the original design.

This project is located in Jiangyin and serves as a wedding home for a young couple born after 2000. Together with the homeowners, we transformed the 140㎡ space into a boundless container that holds all their passions for life — no ornate decorations, only the warmth of natural wood, the rawness of concrete, and an abundance of natural light, making everyday life feel as comfortable as it gets.

WORK / House AQ

For large-scale residential projects, the primary task is to construct a suitable scene and scale, based on a shared understanding of life with the client. Even with the ample square footage, Designer Ruoqiao Chai maximized the utility of every space rather than creating empty rooms that might only be used once or twice a year. So, we don’t have any amenities such as guest room, home theatre, recreation room, or gym, we focused on better serving practical living needs. This ensures that everyone has intuitive pathways to move through, and their own space to relax or interact, while maintaining a comfortable sense of personal distance.

08 SEEU
PHOTOGRAPHY / Dmitrii Tsyrenshchikov

Salt is a renovation project where local materials, vintage objects, and preserved structural elements create a dialogue between past and present. To work more precisely with the context, we temporarily moved to Kaliningrad, gathering tactile and visual details for the interior from markets, workshops, and everyday explorations of the city. Found objects and elements with history became the emotional foundation of the space. This approach shaped a contemporary interior in which the depth of the place and its connection to the past remain clearly present.

09 Studio Hagen Hall
PHOTOGRAPHY / Felix Speller

The property stands at the end of a terrace overlooking a leafy garden square in Islington, just north of the City. Arranged over three levels, the property suffered from a constrained collection of small, dark rooms and years of neglect. Studio Hagen Hall was briefed by the clients – a couple – to revive the tired property, delivering a forever home perfect for two, featuring dedicated space for the clients’ growing collection of Japanese and self-made ceramics, furniture and artwork.
